Facilities: Zebrafish

The Sars Zebrafish Facility supports research in the Suster Group. The facility is used for systematic generation of transgenic fish with special focus on genetic studies of neural circuits and behavior. Current work in the facility involves the generation of a large collection of BAC transgenic zebrafish using transposon-mediated BAC transgenesis.

The Facility measures 800 square feet and houses a 2500 tank system designed by Schwarz Aquarium Systems (Germany). The system keeps the animals at a constant 28.5°C, has recirculating biofilters and automated water processing/exchange.
