Facilities: Zebrafish
The Sars Zebrafish Facility supports research in the Becker Group. A large scale transgenic screen is currently set up and will be running for the next 3 years. This screen is partly funded by the Norwegian Functional Genomics Program (FUGE).
The Zebrafish facility currently holds over 900 genetic strains of the zebrafish Danio rerio, which are essential to the work of many researchers throughout the world.
The Facility measures 800 square feet and houses a 2500 tank system designed by Schwarz Aquarium Systems (Germany). The system keeps the animals at a constant 28.5°C, has recirculating biofilters and automated water processing/exchange.
