Sars International Centre for Marine Molecular Biology

The Sars International Centre for Marine Molecular Biology, known as the Sars Centre, is located in the Bio-block, Bergen High Technology Centre (Høyteknologisenteret) at the Marineholmen campus.

The Sars Centre is a department in Uni Research AS, a limited non-profit company owned mainly by the University of Bergen.

The Sars Centre was established in 1997 as a joint collaboration funded by the University of Bergen, the Research Council of Norway, and the Ministry of Research and Education. The Centre currently hosts 8 independent research groups, in addition to one associate group at the Oslo University. In total the Sars Centre includes some 60 regular staff, of which ca. 2/3 are scientific and typically 5-10 short-term guests/visitors. See for further details.
